Operation Aborted

Not really feeling the new forum... slow and crashes often. I also continually recieve the message "Operation Aborted" when viewing thread with more than 1 page. I'm not quitting watmm, watmm's quitting me.

I get that sometimes at work. But that's only 'cos we've got old-skool IE6, which I hope you're more updated than that....

That's how my parents sometimes refer to my conception!

This version of IPB no longer supports IE6, which I am glad (my job still uses IE6 too as the default browser), but you shouldn't be seeing any less performance out of the board, Edgy.

hmm.. I'm using IE7 (and I run multiple IEs back to 3 for cross-browser compatability nonsense in the office), but even on IE7 I get the operation aborted error, it seems to happen almost exclusively on the last page of a multiple page thread.

I get the 'operation aborted' thing a lot as well. It's annoying.

Any fix for this?

I think I might have a fix - remove that old spoiler tag from your signature; it appears that old spoiler tag causes problems in IE7 when it 'breaks' here - give that a try...

Or, upgrade (if you can) to IE 8 or another browser, as this seems to be limited to IE 7... unless someone else is getting it in another browser as well.

I'm on IE7, so yeah, it's probably that. I'll get IE8.

I dunno if IE 8 will solve your problem; I've not seen any reports of IE 8 problems with IPB, but if you do continue to have issues, consider Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari - they're safer (and faster) than any of the IE browsers currently out.

IE has 60% market share in the browser industry... seems a bit odd for IPB to alienate that many people.

damn! FF picked up 17% since last month. I had no idea it was growing that fast. ...or that IE was losing that much so fast.

Nevermind... those are from w3c server logs.

W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies. These people are more interested in using alternative browsers than the average user. The average user tends to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled with Windows. Most do not seek out other browsers.

These facts indicate that the browser figures above are not 100% realistic. Other web sites have statistics showing that Internet Explorer is used by at least 80% of the users.

Anyway, our data, collected from W3Schools' log-files, over a five year period, clearly shows the long and medium-term trends.

I'm not sure if it's EDGEY's sig that's breaking IE6 (causing the 'operation aborted' dialogue box) as this topic seems to break it too -> http://forum.watmm.com/topic/47648-att-bans-4chan/ . I'm wondering if it's the embedding of youtube clips that's the problem (Well obviously it's IE6 that's actually the problem, but you know what I mean !)

I told him to remove that from his signature... it's the old spoiler code and the JS files are no longer there to support it...

Surely you're not implying that IE is faster than Firefox...?

On this machine it is... IE opens immediately, FF for some odd reason get my harddrive spinning so fast the centrifugal force creates a blackhole, and takes over a minute to open.
