Another great electronic music label is going away...

  Quote
On 1st November 2009 Benbecula Records will close it’s doors indefinitely, 10 years to the day since it’s first CDR release in 1999. The label will continue to operate on a skeletal basis however no more releases will take place for the foreseeable future. Benbecula Records has been established as one of the most respected Scottish labels, specializing in electronica, down tempo, ambient and freestyle music. It’s cavalier attitude to music and it’s highly popular subscription service has made it unique, quirky and lauded by the press, radio and its peers.

It is with regret that due to a multitude of reasons, that the label will cease any new physical operations on the 1st of November 2009. The website will remain open and back catalogue will remain available.

Open your wallet; perhaps if there's an outpouring of (financial) support, they'll be able to soldier on...

Then you're really missing out - they've had some stellar releases (IMO) in the past few years...

i was just listening to the Brian Ellis 'Silver Creature' last night and wondering to myself 'i wonder what else Benbecula has in store for me'

very sad news. For anybody into Squarepusher's or Music for the Rotten one Note or Bitches Brew should definitely check out that disc.

Could you please tell me a couple of your favourite releases? I'll check them out before November.

i enjoyed my subcription a lot (fu pbn you are sour beyond your years, lol). I'd add Syntaks to that list. Lot of good artists...sure there was plenty of dull stuff, but I liked their overall approach.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

- lost cloud

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

-organized confused project

Rotating the square is a really good ep, especially 'my computer'.

Greenbank, anything lined up release wise?

nope, still making stuff but in the absence of benbecula there's almost no chance of any getting released because I can't be bothered.

don't get me wrong, it's a bummer they're out of business; there were quite a few impressive releases on there (christ., brian ellis, prhizzm, music vol. 1-3, etc.)
