I'm really not sure.... I think you have to ask permission to use quotes but i wouldn't know where to start.

I think it's pretty much a given that things like that can be used pretty damn freely when making such styles of moosics. If it was a top 10 hit and sold a million copies, then you may have a problem. Otherwise I think most will agree that using shit like that (especially how you did particularly) is not a problem at all.

If by phrases you mean sampling, that's kind of what hip-hop is about. If you're talking about lyrics then that's definitely not cool.

Phrases... Lyrics are worse, but even ripping of phrases and altering them SLIGHTLY/not at all is TOTALLY NOT COOL.
