Connecting two of the same MIDI controllers to Ableton...

Recommended Posts

So, I've got two "Korg Nano Controllers" and I want to use both of them in Ableton for live sets, but Ableton only detects one of them.

What I want is that each controller controls a track but how the hell do I do that?

Off Topic: I read on the Ableton forum that you can connect two APC's at the same time and you get two outlined boxes to control. Thats crazy awesome.

Squee: Do you see a little light in the upper right light up when you twist a knob or do whatever on both controllers? If not they may only be using 1 driver. You would see two entries in your midi setup I think.

If you got a mac you can easily get around this by "Audio Midi Setup" and creating a second controller by doing /Library -> Audio -> MIDI Devices -> Generic -> Images (if your device is not on the list).

For PC I have no idea

weird... i never thought of that situation... maybe each needs to be on it's own midi channel?

How do I do that?

Yeah, the second midi controller doesn't light up in Ableton when I turn any knobs or slides.

And yes, I'm on a Mac but what do you mean by creating a second controller?

If that is the case, changing the midi channel won't help any. I'm a windows guy so I can't help none, sorry my prince.

i got so pissed once i spilled my beer trying to get my controller to show up in ableton. grrr, spilled beer!
