Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Has anyone here taken one of these exams?

I'm not sure whether I should go for level 3 or level 2. I'm quite certain that if I was to take the level 3 exam tomorrow I would pass it with no problem, but level 2 seems to be a huge step up. I think it's the amount of Kanji on the level 2 exam which make it that much harder.

The exam isn't until December so I guess I have more than enough time to study for it.

For anyone else planning to take one of these exams, I found this site which has all the exams from previous years.

You just need to replace the year and level. ie./ level=2&year=2004 level=1&year=2006 and so forth

You can go here http://jlpt.biz/datumcenter/jlpt/listenmp3/ for the audio files.

As of right now, it's just a personal challenge. Just to say I have done it.

If you are living in Japan and you have your JLPT level 1 certificate, you can enroll in Japanese University or apply for a regular job (or so I've heard). Unfortunately the level 1 exam is ridiculously hard. I hear that it's even difficult for many native Japanese speakers.

As for the level 4 and 3, I think people take them for the challenge. Studying for these is a good way to improve your Japanese though, as most of the material covered on the exam is what you would find in most university level Japanese text books.

Is the task to try and find the fishing cat ?
