incredibly crappy laptop from 1985

There's a pc recycling thing happening in my city this weekend and it's a great excuse to get rid of the bunch of dying and faded CRT monitors and computer cases that they normally charge like $10-$20 each to dump. In doing so I happened to come across our Ericsson Portable PC. This puppy was first released in 1985 and rocks the following specs '4.77 MHz processor and 256-512 kB of RAM' and it took the kind of floppy disks that were actually bendable and floppy.

This is a picture of one, not ours, but its identical even down to the crayon looking smudges that give you the idea some kids gave it one hell of a work out before it found its way to the 'pc museum'

Anyway fuck nostalgia. I searched on ebay and there's nothing for the "EPPC". Anyone know if this would be old and obscure enough to be worth some money these days? Where can I go to find out?

Yeah dude 8kg. There's no point even looking that up, it's not going to be cheap unless there is some loophole with the exchange rate but even still - 8 goddamned kilograms.

Do you know if there is some sort of by sea option that takes 2 months but only costs like $10?

Short answer: no.

Anything like that you can emulate easily on today's computers.

DOSBOX is far from being 100% complete as far as functionality is concerned.

I can run the original Doom and even old old old games like 3-Demon or Bouncing Babies, but not WordPerfect 4.2 or Lotus 1-2-3.

While my particular pc may be worthless I disagree with the idea that any hardware or o/s that can be emulated is devalued because of it. Sure, I guess in the case of something more recent like nintendo 64 then this would be true but when you have stuff as old as the EPPC I would've thought some sort of collector, rarity, or enthusiast value would come into play.

YOU can run Lotus 1-2-3 on a symbian handheld under emulation:

And I don't want to say for sure, but I would imagine it's entirely possible under bochs: http://bochs.sourceforge.net/
