You dont need to even rewire it, You can render a patch as a pluggo plugin, but you need the pluggo application to run it in ableton.

Your point has been the least valid thus far, each person has had a point, but there is a variety of ways to run max in different DAW's. We have also had threads on max with ableton anyway.

Here let me summarize:

1) You can turn your Max patches into VST's by using Pluggo. However Pluggo is no longer being supported by Cycling 74 so use at your own risk.

2) You can run Max alongside Ableton in standalone mode, and connect the two via Jack/Soundflower or IAC/MidiYoke or whatever (Mac or PC).

3) You can wait for Max4Live which is no where near completion, has had no real beta, no concrete info, but will come out eventually.

4) Just use Max and forget about Ableton Live

wow. that's super rad. I'd even like to get a working version of MAX without having to do some shitty time-shifting on the computer's clock to keep the demo from expiring. lol..... or pay for it.

the only way to use it on a mac is to use universal demo remover, which has been known to create the need for OS reinstalls.

I have one computer which I also make my living with...so fuck that.

Just use Pure Data, it's much cheaper than Max

You can build VST-dlls with max versions prior to 5. Unfortunately my old pluggo-vsts crash since i updated to version 5 (even if i reinstalled an old max runtime).
