Inglourious Basterds

I'm actually more interested in seeing this than any other new release movie. I suspect it'll be better than the initial Cannes reaction. Interestingly it's tomatometer has been rising, not going down as happens with most flicks upon release...

I'll watch it after all the hype dies down.

My buddy's girl works for Focus Features and saw it at Cannes. She said it was fucking amazing. I can't wait now!

i like most quentin tarantino movies, so i'll probably enjoy this one too.

I would also love to see this film of likely epic proportions.

i'm psyched to see it. i've heard from people who've seen it that it's a great film, but one they don't care to watch again anytime soon. i kind of feel that way about most of quentin tarantino's films.

sidenote: i'm totally redesigning the site for the company that's distributing the original version on dvd, severin films. crazy!

If it wasn't because it says "The New Film By Quentin Tarantino" I don't think anybody would really pay that much attention to it.

Also, I'm getting tired of Brad Pitt.

Are you referring to the big ol posters out in public, or just that his films are always tagged with "The new film by Quentin Tarantino"? Because around London there are posters that don't have the film title - literally looks as if it's called "The New Film By Quentin Tarantino".

i have no expectations for this movie. i will probably see it when it's on the internet as a dvdrip.

I'm sure I will probabky like this film. Quentin tarantino might not be a genius, but he's very good at "recontextualising" old material...

He knows how to make entertaining movies is what I'm saying..

I'm not a huge Tarantino fan but I do think he's a genius of sorts, and there is one thing that sets him apart from most other filmmakers working today: he understands that suspense and upsetting the audience's expectations are crucial to making an engaging film. I watched Pulp Fiction again about a month ago and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Scenes like the gold watch scene with Christopher Walken are just so expertly crafted, and build so perfectly to the payoff. I can't think of any other living filmmaker, besides possibly David O. Russell, who understands how to do this.

Pulp Fiction is Tarantino's only good film.

I've never seen Jackie Brown - But I love Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill AND Deathproof (though I preferred Planet Terror) so I guess I'm excited.

It has to be said though, the biggest thing that puts me off Tarantino films is Tarantino himself. I mean, the film sets had to be huge to accomodate his massive ego.

How so? Pretty good for a low budget first effort if you ask me.

have you watched it recently? I thought it was wicked when it first came out and I was 15ish...

if I watch it now though I hate it - just the whole dialog and characters seem like a cliche of themselves now...I hate the whole Super Sounds of the Seventies theme running through it - dunno why it just fucks me off and seems like "cool" for the sake of "cool" when Tarantino clearly has no idea what is cool or not (btw I'm not insinuating that I do either).

I dunno I just don't like it.
