The Gaslamp Killer brings his heavy monster sound with a crushing EP of B-moving beats and sample archaeology. It was hard not to be impressed by his recent Finders Keepers mix, and we can safely say that if you were taken by it's intuitively ruff cut but studied techniques you'll be all over this one. Tracks range from minute long sketches of rerouted samples as on the two intro tracks, to club cut big beats on 'Anything Worse', polyphonic drum trips on 'Baiafro Electric', or Assault On Precinct 13 soundtrack homages on 'Ruskie Electric' for some well dug dramatics. Most impressive of the lot though, has to be the studio trickery of 'Birthday Music', panning sounds and FX to lysergic extremes for a brief glimpse into The GK's hairbrained psyche. Fans of everyone from Mr Scruff to Paul White to the Finders Keepers lot will deeply dig this - Killer set!

I like this a lot, along with I Spit On Your Grave and his Finders Keepers mix. Def someone to keep an eye on.

He is a great DJ and is one of the best DJs when it comes to mixes but I am excited to find out how he is when it comes to his original music.

I honestly don't care about what he has when it comes to original music. This EP is some of the best shit I have heard this year. "Anything Worse" drops a beat that so far 2 for 2 has gotten me jumping out of my chair, freaking out and air drumming. I don't know what comes over me... THE MOTHER FUCKING GASLAMP KILLER IS THE SHIT.

ahh I still have to check out that EP. Have you listened to his Finders Keepers mix?? Its fucking amazing.

i'm gonna have to say this ep was a major disappointment for me. honestly i don't see what's so good about the dude.

not trying to hate, but this ep is not that great. the beats are very generic, the tunes aren't that imaginative (too repetitive once he finds the groove),

and the melodies are middle of the road.

my personal opinion doesn't really mean shit, but with so much good wonk beat released recently, it's a stretch to call this release 'good' in such company.

I have to agree, I certainly haven't heard anything earth-shattering out of him. I would easily rank FlyLo, Ras G and Nosaj Thing ahead of him as far as the Brainfeeder crew goes...

I agree, he should just stick to doing mixes..
