solarion
Personally I think owning Autechre on vinyl is a rather silly thing. Why add random crackling to the precision crackling they already put in it? Why add random crackling to the precision crackling they already put in it? doesn't the tri repetae cd say "incomplete without surface noise"? edit: a-huh! The CD version's liner notes state that the album is "Incomplete without surface noise," whereas the vinyl version states that it is "Complete with surface noise." Why add random crackling to the precision crackling they already put in it? Around the time of the Quari release they said they like listening to music on tapes - you get all the wows and flutters you'll never get with digital formats. Same applies to vinyl, but obviously to a lesser extent. The ability to change the speed is a great advantage though, no joke. The Tuss album at 33RPM instead of 45 is killer Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide futureimage's signature Hide all signatures New Future Image album, Definite Complex, out now!FUTURE IMAGE RECORDS Future Image Definite ComplexIntelligent Dasein Sound Experiments #1papertiger harmonizing the seamsP/R/P/E The Speed of RevolutionWilliam S. futureimage
It has the same effect but playing the vinyl itself actually has a different sound to that of digital recordings slowed down. There's a load of technical stuff behind it which I can't remember but it definitely isn't exactly the same. It's still cool to do though. oscillik
i can totally agree with regard to the difference between digitally pitching down and mechanically pitching down (on a turntable). it's a different sound Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide oscillik's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/48270-rae-at-45-rpm/#findComment-1125497 Share on other sites
