The Wolfman (2010) - Trailer

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that people who went to the screening said it was extremely violent.

At least I know I want it to be violent. It's a werewolf movie, man.

hell yeah! Do you remember "Wolf" with jack n. and the sexy michelle phiffer (sp?). That kind of sucked ass, but goddamn Michelle's hot. I liked it when jack went into the office and was smelling stuff. yeah.

it looks like it's trying to evoke extremely hard the Universal era of movie monster motion pictures but failed miserably in almost every important area needed to achieve that

it just seems really cheesy and polished and very fakey old timey. they need someone like Terry Gilliam to be able to capture the aesthetic they are trying to go for, instead it looks even less proper than the Marry Shelly Frankenstien movie

although part of me wishes it was not a period piece.

yeah, if I may be eloquent here, i say fuck that shit.

You're probably 100% right Robbie. I don't even know why I'm all too concerned either way, as the whole "Universal Monsters" thing was so super cheese to me when I was 5. The 1st real horror movie I ever saw was Alien. Sets the bar high it does. Although I'll proudly admit I loved "Cabin Fever" also...

apparently the Werner Herzog Nosferatu movie really captures the feeling im talking about, even though im aware that the whole universal monsters thing came later than the original.

i've never seen either. i just think somewhere along the way Hollywood forgot how to properly make a period piece feel authentic especially a creepy one. They get aspects of it right but it feels i dont know just really polished. The Elephant man by David Lynch is a good example of how to purposefully make a film feel old and im not just talking about the black and white film stock.

I think it's just too much polish. Part of the atmosphere of them was the grit, film stock, lighting, etc. Because directors have all of these tools at their disposal they think they need to show everything they can do all of the time. There isn't any mystery left on screen.

yeah.

It's a shame the actors are so good. B Del T is one of my faves working right now.

it needs to be neither cheesy nor cheap ... i think if they keep the plot moving at a pace .. things will be perhaps not be crap .. plus there were moments that really peaked my intrest .. like the medical examination room .. and being dumped in the ice bath ...

I really liked Shadow of the Vampire. I remember walking out of the theater, having watched Malkovich and Dafoe do their thing for 90 minutes, totally unsure what to think about the movie. What I felt, however, was mesmerized and unsettled. Maybe I'd think it sucks now, so I'm too afraid to watch it again.

it is decent, it really is, but there are some lol moments. Dafoe steals the show.

I think it looks fine. Certainly no worse off than every single fucking superhero/monster movie made in the past 2 decades. I dont get your guys' problems with the aesthetic. You guys just bitch bitch bitch about everything, maybe its time to realize that its 2009 and that noone can make a hollywood trailer to save their dicks.

I remember liking the film... I could be wrong but for some reason I remember a lot of nudity in it too.

One thing that gives me pause about this werewolf film is the fact that they apparently threw out a bunch of stuff Stan Winston's studio did.
