fridaynight/saturday morning hang out thread

hey guys

you barely/don't at all know me

but i bet the majority of you would be fucking awesome in real life

and i bet if i had been in high school with most of you we would have been best friends

because lets face it, if you meet somebody who likes IDM, they're pretty much automatically friends immediately

in other news I haven't smoked weed in three weeks and am not feeling depressed and psychotic! drink to my glory dear boys

in other other news I AM working on a pretty exciting new concept for an album that i would love your guys' input on. i don't want to give it away because i feel it's rather cool.

also i'm playing through zelda: ocarina of time for the first time in my life and it's lovely

here is a fucking sweet game that is free and works on all systems that everyone should play:

Façade puts the player in the role of a close friend of Grace and Trip, a couple who recently invited the player to their home for cocktails. This pleasant gathering, however, quickly decays into domestic turmoil as the couple begins to argue even before the player's arrival. Making full use of the incorporated language processing software, the game allows the player to type sentences to "speak" with the couple, either supporting them through their troubles, or driving them farther apart.

Incorporating elements of both video gaming and drama, Façade takes advantage of voice acting and a 3-D environment, as well as natural language processing and other advanced artificial intelligence routines, to provide a robust interactive fiction experience. The player can take an active role in the conversation, pushing the topic one way or another, as in an interactive stage-play. These stage-plays are stored as script text files which can be read after the game is finished.

Façade was released for PC in July 2005, as a free download from the InteractiveStory.net web site.

The creators of Facade are developing a game called The Party[1].

I am yet to have this experience in real life but I have a feeling you're right. Most of my friends now will listen to the occasional aphex or whatnot that I introduce to them but they don't seem to take the same passion to it that I do. hopefully this coming year (first year at college, will be meeting tons of people) I'll connect with someone on this level

Oh yes it is. Best game ever imo, or for sure in my top 5

where are you going to school

if you go to a cool school you're guaranteed to meet some people with similar interests

if you go to a school that is anything LESS than cool it's pretty much guaranteed that you won't meet people with similar interests

especially if your interests include abstract electronic music

thankfully i went to a weird ass highschool and met a person who is basically a carbon copy of myself. listens to and obsesses over electronic artists. it's weird the amount of kids at my school who were into electronic. at a medium sized high school i knew probably 5-6 people who listened to aphex twin and 3 or so out of that 5-6 also like shit like autechre, arovane, and so on. the amount of people i connected with actually went DOWN when i entered college. LOL

should have gone to oberlin. that place was crawling with freaks.

Guest Adjective

someone gave me an adderall so i've been Renoising and gnashing my teeth for hours

i've also got two puppies snoring beside me, the owner this house snoring on the other side of the room, and superman II in HD. we're at full stimulation

that sounds fantastic

i'm so very content right now (Hydrocodone). i have many adderall horror stories. best thing to make music on but it pretty much always has me ending up in psychosis and delusions. terrifying shit. one time i was sleeping in this girl's room and i thought she was communicating with me using her mind and through her breathing patterns. she was asleep. my heartbeat was all irregular and i couldn't fucking breathe because i was afraid she would get the wrong messages from me. i literally sat in the top bunk of her bed wide fucking awake FREAKING OUT constantly for around 5 hours. she woke up at like 8 AM and I was like "Good morning." lol. that story gets passed around quite a bit. apparently she was freaked out. later that morning (still hadn't slept), I go downstairs and accidentally set off the fucking fire alarm. it's freezing cold outside and I didn't mean to do it, but I take off sprinting. apparently I called my friend like "I heard sirens!" and I thought the cops would come and get me. I eventually calmed down and headed back. another time i thought advertising companies were sending messages into my brain, and at the time it really felt like they were...

i think i'm going to sit back and enjoy some quality television shows on netflix. i love weekends.

another adderall story not worth reading:

senior year of highschool we had to write this two paragraph journal entry on an online forum regarding our book of choice. it was the first time i took adderall and i took way too much, but i didn't realize it very much. i ended up typing about 10-15X the amount we were supposed to write about ken kesey and the counterculture movement (my book of choice was One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest)

I don't pick my friends based on the music they listen to.

I'm eating breakfast, watching I'm Alan Partridge and getting ready to go on a picnic, good times.

i'm actually really lame annoying and campy and all kinds of in your face wack like

go download this mix i just finished off like 6 hours ago before 3 hours of much needed sleep (it had been 2 days)

you're on an idm board, dude, i mean, we're all losers who secretly think aphex twin's music is better than pussy ("i can find another piece of pussy, i can't find another aphex twin" which btw truer words have never been spoken) and yet we post here trying to convince ourselves that we're not at least endearingly homoerotic where it counts. muah.

naw, you would have thought i was a fat intense weirdo who's in his own world (and you're not a part of it, screeching weasel) and like... as my one friend said of me. "jim schaefer: understood by few, liked by fewer, respected by all"

not true!#@$ i got stood up on a red hot idm nerd date the other night (i met a guy walking down the street in an ae hoodie outside of a bar whilst smoking in my squarepusher shirt. he wanted my number. i've got a 27 inch idm cock, incidentally. oh and here's the best part, i get a text message at 2:45am this morning like "hey i'm on the way over are you still there" cuz the dude totally chumped out and now he wants to play it like his phone got fucked up and the text never got sent so he never heard from me and then he didnt come.

let's face it... the guy tried picking me up for my idm steez and i was there at rainbo club waiting for him and he knows i'm the truth, and well, that's what happens when you get eventually-became-IDM-heads and fo'real purebred idmers like me. we mix like oil and your driveway whenever there's a cheap car around: beware of stains.

see above. and see EKT/YLC. go listen to those tracks, except my rap ones that nobody wants to comment about cuz they're horrible boring and pointless shit. but yeah, after listening to an hour of your average EKTYLC tracks if you dont have the balls to post what you're working on then you dont have the balls requisite to being a musician, homey.

seriously you need a blog called "adventures in banality" and see if you can get some jewish producers in hollywood to pick it up and make a thrilling indie movie. i bet zooey deschanel would line up to be in it, especially if you said you liked her band... she might even fuck you if you knew her band's name (no zooey deschanel superhipstergirl sex for jimbo... awwwww =( )

Best friends already

I generally don't like people who are into aphex in real life. They're usually way too excited about the fact that they've found someone who likes it, like we should be best friends forever etc

Guest abusivegeorge

lol I don't think you're retarded.

My only comment thus so far though, is that when people think their heart is beating erratically or has "missed a beat" its almost 99.9% not true and just something that your mind is telling you, most of the time you are just hearing/feeling it beating and this tends to freak people out anyway, especially if you're tripping then you think weird shit is hapenning with your heart, not the case, most of the time it's beating on normally, if you heart started doing weird shit you'd fucking know about it.

*is asking triple x for help here as I am shit at explaining*

I used to think weird shit was happenning with my heart wehn going through various stages of withdrawal from alcohol and I started to get really paranoid, told the hospital, and it's just total bollocks, complete illusion of the mind.

Although I do believe you can experience regular heart convulsions, but this isn't actually doing you any harm.
