It seems that this issue comes up all the time whenever the genre Shoegaze is mentioned. I wanted to set it up as a poll.

Which one do you like better ?

P.S - If you didnt know, Souvlaki is an album by Slowdive, not something you eat( so keep all those smart ass comments to yourself).

i would say the same thing.

they're both VERY different though they may be rooted in a similar sort of guitar/effects-drenched wall-of-sound (not mr spector) type of production. i mean, sure they're both pop albums, but i think it's pretty difficult to compare them. rhythmically speaking i think i like souvlaki better, and overall i like souvlaki better, but only slightly and it's a personal preference that might not jive with someone else's tastes.

Loveless is easily miles ahead of Souvlaki. But they're massively different albums anyway. (And I liked Pygmalion better than Souvlaki.)

Yo, my name is Saad and I don't give a fuck.

loveless for me, if only because loveless is more unique.

i gotta go with Souvlaki because it was the first and most magical to me.

But with that even said, Isn't Anything I would argue is on par if not better than Loveless.

loveless is like a date in heaven during a dream with the most beautiful girl centuries long ago in a memory

souvlaki is great but i genuinely think it doesn't reach the mystical levels loveless reaches

also i don't think my bloody valentine released a single album or ep (after the really, really early stuff) that could be considered anything less than great

pygmalion is amazingly good. and just for a day has a few really great songs on it, and a few poor songs.

Space Station is my quintessential Shoegazer track because it represents absolutely everything I love about the genre, soaked in so much reverb you can barely seperate the voices from the instruments....and you know they are saying something, but it doesnt matter its still wildly beautiful...Space Station is the musical encapsulation of a dying star exploding.

Loveless, no contest. I got really excited by Slowdive after the first EP, but by the time Just For A Day surfaced I'd lost all interest in them. I never even realised they'd released anything since until a few years ago (true fan).

And yeah, where the FUCK are the MBV remasters?!!!

loveless. the closest competitor to loveless in my particular shoegaze-list is probably giant steps by the boo radleys.

giant steps is excellent. such a fall record for me. same with loveless.

loveless is one of those rare pieces of music that truly transcends everyday existence.

It's no doubt totally irrelevant to mention Ride's 'Chelsea Girl', 'Drive Blind' and 'Leave Them All Behind' in this thread but I have done anyway.
