First Post in the General Music Discussion Board! General Banter should now be known as General Poop Joke.

No, I'm actually excited about this division as I mostly like talking about music. Awesome!

I enjoy the fragility of the rolling lol tbh. The broken lol is like our own mortality staring us in the face, reminding us to enjoy that sunset.

Due to the recent DMX Krew subforum petition/poll, I've decided based on user input to create a forum for discussion of music only - the non-music stuff can stay in General Banter, and hopefully, this will become a place to discuss the one thing that brings many of us here to begin with - music, namely electronic music.

Please keep topics to the subject of music - if you're not sure, use your best judgement, and if you realize afterwards, feel free to contact me or a Moderator and we'll happily move the topic to the appropriate forum/subforum.

Please note that if you want to talk Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, BoC, Plaid, Cylob, µ-Ziq, or Luke Vibert, we have subforums dedicated to each of those artists and can be accessed from the main forum menu or the dropdown list in the lower right on each page of the forum.

Also featured is the New and Upcoming Releases, Live Dates and Tours, and WATMMixes subforums, all of which can be accessed in a similar manner.

As this experiment evolves, we'll see how things work out (or don't), and your input/advice is appreciated.

I got irritated by the "FIRST POST" crapola, but yes, I'm excited too!

I'm gonna move this into my thread, as let's set a good example and keep the forum on-topic.

Not a bad idea, tidbit.

move artist forums under this

I thought about that, but then you've got sub-subforums - I think they're fine where they are, for now.

Thumbs up on the move. Am I right in thinking Joyrex.com was like this too (ie. music discussion was split from gen ban shenanigans.)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Stupid idea, the forum doesn't need more forums. And since when did Joyrex start taking into consideration the opinion of others in a fucking DMX krew thread, the majority of people here are idiots. There's a group of a couple of dozen reasonably intelligent frequent posters here*, why not just send them pms if you want feedback?

*I'm not including myself in this.

Guest Benedict Cumberbatch

hhhmmmmm not sure.

i miss having the new releases forum above the general banter.

ideally each member would be able to set up how they want to view the site. so you can select whether you want everything in one forum or if you want to see subforums and the hierarchy too. so you could set General Banter with an aphex subforum and you could hide the plaid subforum under nonsense/crap

personally i'm just against change of any kind

People are dying from poverty and wars an' shit, and you're moaning about more clicking....

I've always taken the community's opinions into consideration - some really good ideas have been borne from that very process.

You let me know who the "reasonably intelligent" people here are, and I might consider doing that :emotawesomepm9:

so is there going to be a dmx krew subforum or not? how long does the poll have to go on?

I thought I made it pretty clear in my response - in short, no. This forum is the solution to any "[insert artist name here] needs a subforum" discussion.

Not bothered either way about a music forum, but I can see myself posting threads in the wrong place when I'm pissed.

I can't complain about a music section b/c I've always wished there was one. But traffic getting spread out is always a weird thing to figure out, and I have no suggestions really for the "ultimate forum".

Here's something I always thought would be neat though, keeping ekt, and artist subforums, but somehow cross posting topics related to watmm artists sub forums, in gen banter (if posted there) and the artist forum, cross posting all posts inside the topic too, which prolly can't be done. BUt regardless of the cross posting i always thought this would be cool to help keep everyone in one space, or just a few. Excuse the rushed p.shop non-skills

So the format of the topic would be:

Example (things in brackets not showing up)-

[tag]Luke Vibert - Ya'll like the new vibert album?

I think it's pretty neat

We contemplated a system like this so one could 'filter' the forum (one singular forum) based on artist, or on a tag, but the structure of the forum database makes this terribly complicated (Chaosmachine can explain better than I can) to do, and ends up hacking the forum terribly, which makes updates a real pain.

i didn't see that post before i made this post. this shit is kind of confusing. Also, is it going to be hard to put the artists subforums on the top like the old board? I imagine they would all get more traffic that way, as opposed to having to fiddle with the drop down menu or having to click on General Discussion or some shit. I'm not complaining. just asking.
