karmakramer
What an immensely amazing album. Did anyone else get some Sgt. Pepper vibes from Shelia? Obviously he doesn't really sound like the Beatles, but I can't help but feel some connection. This album overall though doesn't really sound like anything he's done before, or anything thats really been done before. I have been a believer in Bradford Cox/Deerhunter, since I first heard Cryptograms some time back, and I am even more so a believer after i have heard both Deerhunter's guitarist Lockett Pundt solo album "Lotus Plaza" (2009) and now this. Does anyone else not think the output of Deerhunter hasn't been quality release after quality release? Cyrpotgrams (2007) Fluorescent Grey (2007) Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel (2008) Microcastle / Weird Era Cont. (2008) Lotus Plaza (2009) Rainwater Cassette Exchance (2009) Logos (2009) Edited September 7, 2009 by karmakramer Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/48592-atlas-sound-logos/#findComment-1116941 Share on other sites
Guest Hanratty
i listened to Deerhunter and did not know what the fuss is about. And I love Kranky! But, like Grouper, I don't get it. karmakramer
Start with the Fluorescent Grey EP... listen to that a few times in the next few days... if you don't like them still... then I think they just aren't your style. Guest beatfanatic
Logos is allright , not as great as Let the blind... in my opinion I still think that Cryptograms > rest of Deerhunter and Atlas Sound discography. karmakramer
I was more impressed with Logos immediately then Let the Blind... and like with all their releases so far except maybe "Microcastle" I've grown to like them more with more listens. Guest Glass Plate
I normally don't like indie type music like this at all, but there was a few tracks I enjoyed. Caretstik
So that's actually the cover? The digital art for his free blog tracks is usually better than that. Ah well, preordered anyway. Rough Trade are giving away an exclusive bonus CD. Guest zaphod
holy shit this is great i've listened to sheila about twenty times today funny how people are about deerhunter...i really dislike cryptograms and flourescent grey but microcastle is a great album, and that last ep was really good. i think i prefer his pop songs over the longer ambient/noise stuff. the first atlas sound album was ok, but again, lots of stuff that went nowhere. this one is far more focused. the track with the girl from stereolab is impressive. I think Cryptograms is their best album by far. Microcastle was okay, but Weird Era Cont. was far better overall. This Atlas Sound is different then Let the Blind Lead.. can't say if its actually really better or worse. But I think this one will hold up better in time maybe. And Flourescent grey is perhaps their best release in my opinion. So maybe we just don't agree stylistically, but as an avid Deerhunter fan, I really think you should give Crypto/Grey Ep another chance if you haven't really. halisray
cryptograms and fluorescent adolescent EP are amazing - tbh every Deerhunter album is fantasic.. also Bradford Cox's solo albums are great too. check out Lotus Plaza, Deerhunter's guitarists solo **give cryptograms more time, seriously.. because it beats microcastle hands down* Edited February 8, 2010 by halisray Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide halisray's signature Hide all signatures https://soundcloud.com/halisray Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/48592-atlas-sound-logos/#findComment-1236928 Share on other sites
