i can't imagine being that drummer on the first sight read

on another note, i think they should have picked another ae song. this one just seems like it would be annoyingly hard to get the timing like the recording.

I don't think it's that ridiculous, especially if you are a professional drummer. I mean, the beats are relatively slow and pretty repetitive. you just have to be keen to switch the variations. Its interesting to follow along while listening to the song. I bet this will be a really nice performance. Good choice by them, probably my favorite autechre song of all time, and I think it will translate well to the orchestra.

if you know the song it's not so hard, looking at the score i didn't find it too difficult to follow. i can't wait to hear what it sounds like!

i might send this to the drummer from my band, he'll probably get a kick out of it. lol get it, 'kick'? ah, forget it.

yeah, they premiered it at the warp20 show, and it was ridiculous. gave me chills. alarm will sound are gods. i asked for the music after they'd played it and was SHOCKED that it was mostly in 12/8.

Looking at it, it really isn't that hard to play, it looks a lot harder than it is cos it's scored in 12/8.

Aha. Yeah. About that. Several conclusions:

1. Definitely trying to do this for A2 music recitals early next year.

2. It's in fact not that easy, but total murder.

3. Total WTF at triplet quavers + semiquavers played by different limbs simultaneously. Check bars 78, 97, 99, etc.

4. I fully appreciate the funkiness of some of the beats here. Bar 31 over and over is brilliant. Section I onwards + quaver hihats is just brilliant.
