Jim O'Rourke - The Visitor

it's in the vein of bad timing, eureka, halfway to a threeway, and insignificance, though there are no vocals. it's one, thirty-eight minute piece. really clean mix/production. apparently he played everything on the record himself.

its nice, i wish it had track markers though, i would love to listen to this thing in my car but the intro is really long and ambient

happy and im singing i expected to be more synthesizer/electronic based because of the cover but its actually very similar to mid period Oval. It sounds like a lot of cd skipping /cutups of guitar and real instrument work. Its pretty good i would recommend it.

halfway to a threeway is his best release...you could get the full length eureka, but halfway basically boils that down to its essence. he writes really brilliant pop music, just check it out.

the workplace is just beautiful beautiful music that i wish would never end but unfortunately it fades out after less than 8 minutes

but get eureka as well

and get Camofleur by Gastr del Sol (jim o'rourke and david grubbs' old group, also included bundy k brown and jon mcentire from tortoise ) this record is an early indication of his later forays into popular song writing though wildly diverse and features markus popp (oval) on electronic duties. fantastic record. one of my all time favourites. the last album he did as part of gastr del sol... around 97 or 98 i think this was, shortly before Eureka, tracks on which, such as Movie on the way down and Eureka are in a similar vein
