I was listening to this story today, about the word "retard" and it made me think of you guys.

I also noticed there wasn't a tread about NPR and was curious how many of you retards listen to it on a regular basis.

When I was a little kid (like 7-8) I grew up listening to Hearts of Space every sunday night on NPR. Back then I didn't even know what to call electronic music, it was simply 'space music' to me back then. Fantastic show, its probably what rooted my interest in the genre long before I had any idea. Well worth checking out, Stephen Hill's play lists are incredible. I think most of them are archived too online, http://www.hos.com/.

I think it's pretty much gone to shit these days. Too much new-agey crapoo. They played some Vangelis the other week though, and an ambient-ish buckethead tune so that was cool.

Thats a shame, I admit its been several years since I've even thought about listening in. I just remember how much I loved 'space music' when I'd play with my action figures on sunday evenings as a kid, only to rediscover Eno and Glass and all the other artists he'd play like a lost piece of my childhood nearly a decade later.

I don't know shit about NPR but I do know that campaigns to get words bleeped are infuriating!

There's few things more jarring than watching a tv show and hearing bleeping as if it's making my ears safer. Fucking retards.

I'm a big NPR fan - listen to Morning Edition every morning on the way to work, and All Things Considered on the way home. On the weekends, I try and catch Car Talk and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Says You, This American Life, and others.

It's actually the one reason I don't get an iPod and still have a shitty 256MB Samsung MP3 player - it has a built in FM tuner so I can listen to NPR. Fuck having to buy an addon for the iPod just to get radio.
