Cymbal loops?

Why the hell is it so hard to get good cymbals or cymbal loops?

I have decided to make a pop song even though i despise pop and I was using "Lady GaGa - Just Dance" for reference.

If you have the song, listen to the cymbals when the beat kicks in. you can hear long hats/cymbals. I'm not sure exactly which cymbals they are but from my experience over the years it is near impossible to find cymbal loops with JUST the cymbals playing.

If you download acoustic drum loops you get all the unwanted stuff on top like kicks and snares. you cant EQ the unwanted stuff out because by the time you get rid of the kick drum you dont have much left on the frequency range and the cymbals sound pathetic.

As for just loading in individual cymbals... it never works because for starters humanization is a lot of hard work and in the end they still don't sound real.

All I want is a cymbal loop of real cymbals being hit. why is that so hard to find!!?? I haven't found one site that provides this.

I think your best hope is those same drum loops you don't like. Within them you will find that, in the slower ones, you'll have a kick/ride or kick/hihat combo for a couple seconds. This is what you want. Throw a steep hi-pass filter around 120 - 300(just a guess), it'll be a trade-off between hiding the kick and thinning your cymbal. You can capture some of the essence of a groove within 2-4 hits. It doesn't even need to loop properly, you just need to retrigger the sample at the right time. Also mixing just a hint of real cymbals with synthetic ones(with a little verb maybe) is enough to make most ears find them real enough. They can fill-in whatever is lacking in the other.

Also slight randomization of the pitch, if your sampleplayer has it, is great in small amounts.

Or go ask a drummer and record his cymbals.

i think i may have some decent cymbal loops but they are in .rex format. can you use?
