My back hurts so god damn much

Recommended Posts

Fuck this shite. I've had back knots just under my shoulder blades for a good long time now (over a year) and they are sometimes pretty severe but usually they come and go.

For the last 2 weeks or so they have been incredibly bad. The pain ranges from annoyance to excruciating but leans towards the latter. I haven't had a chance to go to a doctor about it yet because of school and other things.

I use ice packs, heating pads, tennis balls, stretches, workouts, and none of it works at all. I've been using Rub a5-35 but it does not really do anything long term, just temporary relief.

At times it almost brings me to tears, I can't sit anywhere for more than 5 or 10 minutes(at home, on the bus, at school) without it flaring up really badly and has forced me to leave class once already this semester.

Obviously I'll be seeing a doctor soon but does anyone here have experience with stubborn back knots like this? Honest to god I'll do just about anything to get rid of these. I'll blow a fucking lumberjack if you tell me that's what it will take

edit: its this entire muscle that hurts

Find a good Chiropractor in your area, and get diagnosed, and then get treatment. I go to one on a regular basis, as does my family, and I can say that it helps tremendously not only with back pain, but allergies and other ailments of the body.

Note, I said Chiropractor, not a Doctor - Chiropractic is less invasive and will not involve medications.

Acupuncture sounds like a really great idea actually.

To be honest even the thought of someone screwing a power drill into my back seems like heaven.

I will certainly be seeking more professional help but I've heard that chiropractors are not very good because they won't cure you, they just want you to keep coming back.

LOL, that's Doctors - my Chiropractor has already said my son doesn't need to come back since he's in such good health, and he's got us all on a set plan with regular checkup intervals to see what progress we're making. Any good Chiropractor will outline a treatment plan with some sort of timeline to ensure you're progressing towards your goal of having a pain-free back or the remedy of whatever ails you.

Doctors, on the other hand, prescribe medications (in most cases, not all) that merely mask the symptoms to alleviate pain or suffering, and rarely do they address what the cause of the ailment actually is.

this sounds true about doctors. my dad has some kind of condition where his spine has progressively become bent (horizontally to the front of the body). apparently it's easily diagnosed and reasonably easily fixed during childhood, but this was during/just after the war so didn't happen. instead it comes back to haunt you in in old age and really starts fucking with you. now he's always just monged up on super strong codeine, with his own consensus being 'meh, i don't have that long to live'. to which i'm like, 'thanks mate, that's a nice thing for your son to hear'.

but yeah, he says acupuncture is the shit. and if you don't already have a gf who'll give you massages, get one (or dump the gf who doesn't give massages, if you have one).

So what exactly makes chiropractors different than a back/spine doctor specialist?

I'm assuming it's the credentials or something, but it seems like chiropractors get a bad rap (probably thanks to doctors).
