mcbpete
In the past I've had a play with Gephex - http://www.gephex.org/ It's kind of like a simpler version of Jitter (although to me it was more like a video version of Jeskola Buzz), is free and available for Windows/Linux (and an experimental version for Mac OSX Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily. awepittance
looks pretty neat, when you say it's like jitter do you mean it has no msp like components where that you could use visuals to control sound. by the looks of it seems like it can only go one way = sound 2 visuals Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide awepittance's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/49020-best-way-to-make-visuals-for-music-vsts/#findComment-1124034 Share on other sites
Guest futuregirlfriend
Doesn't sound like it'll really fit your bill but how about Processing? There's piles of stuff about to get you started, and lots to yoink snippets from. There's an OBJ loader too, which you may be able to put to use? I wouldn't mind getting to know some more, but there's too much other stuff I'm trying to learn at the moment :( http://processing.org/ http://www.openprocessing.org/ just a quick youtube search http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx0XPk9OZhY You can always then use different sketches for different scenes, or what have you, and edit them together. Squee
:) Do you want the visuals to be in sync with music the whole time? As in every little frequency reacts with the pixels according to the music like something from the Gantz Graf video? To be honest, I haven't tried any VST Visual plugins but I'm 100% sure that it'll end up looking like something from Windows Media Player. Also, do you want the visuals to run from the computer that is also processing the music? Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/49020-best-way-to-make-visuals-for-music-vsts/#findComment-1125876 Share on other sites

Squee
Will your friend's show be 100% live as in no one knows what will happen next or will it be a "planned" live set where everything is set up just waiting to be activated? Squee
You should get Resolume and run it on a seperate computer. In my opinion, it's the best video/visual trigger there is. You can add a midi controller to it and control all your effects with it. You can also add cues to your videos so you can trigger certain parts of the videos whenever you want. This is a great feature because even though visuals aren't always noticed by the crowd, the constant flashing and back forth between two clips or scenes enhances the audio experience.
