have I heard this before somewhere?

Recommended Posts

yes, sounds familiar. i've heard this before in that afx rome set, in a soundboard recording of a cylob dj set (before an amen andrews track) and in a snippet impakt uploaded once (acidbits.mp3).

obviously a track by impakt.

edit: alright, it sounds slightly different. maybe impakt did a rework? i don't know.

isn't this the white label acid record that Cylob and Richard claim to have randomly found in some record store in london that they have never been able to identify?

I don't believe the story myself, it sounds like aphex twin analogue bubblebath era but i don't think its a fake track either.

supposedly a squarepusher 12"

cylobs played it out

longer version of the youtube track :

notice it sounds like someone's shout has been looped at the begining.

This one went thorugh my ipod, hence the funny name.

This may be the cover impakt made (said qnio)

AHHHH!! I thought I had heard it before, its Wisp!!

from cylob site :

" During my 2003 trip to Budapest in Hungary, I made appearances on two radio stations. Kando FM broadcast me mixing records (badly - in my defence they were vestax decks not technics!) for 45 minutes, you can check it out here.

i think you can hear the "locked groove" at the beguining of the youtube clip (obvisouly taken from cylob dj set)

probably an unreleased tune by squarepusher (?)

here's the impakt tune:

so there are 4 different versions. my guess is that the one found on 002q.com (eod's site) is the original (uploaded by placidburp), and the others are reworks (the one on cylob's set/youtube/new_afx_4.mp3, the one uploaded by Babar (LSGV.mp3) and this one by impakt).

about who made the one played by cylob... no idea

Edited by qnio

has anyone tried contacting cylob to ask him about this record?

'course good sir, I once heard a live sample a long time ago, enough time to forget, and was simply confounding it with an AB3 track (which reminds a bit that youtube track). I went back to correct that small mistake but the great Joyrex had already responded...

hey joyrex, wanted to pm you...

Don't you think it would be a good idea to make a "Unreleased track" thread. People would post the tracks they've got, and the first post would list them, whether they are fake or not. To ensure those are not lost over time, it would be useful to host them on watmm (not on the users' attachment section as i don't have a enough space for this).

Now, I'm not sure it would respect the copyright rules...

besides I've made my 1000th post a few posts back :)
