orb live recordings

well good evening amigos.

i know i've been lacklustre with this wattem foruming malarkey for the last year (girls, degree, etc have kept me somewhat busy), and i've been promising but failing to deliver all those lovely orbscurities that i've mentioned, but i have a plan.

i've started a blog. it's here: http://letsgooccidental.blogspot.com/

and the plan is to update at least 3 times a week. honest.

i've posted one new orb live recording already, from cambridge 1991, and i'll post at least another one before the end of the night.

i won't be posting updates on this forum because i don't want to clutter up this board with my ramblings and spamming, so i suggest that you just check that every so often if you're interested.

good stuff. going through a bit of an orbsession right now.

quick question tho, are the remasters worth it at all sound quality-wise? or are the extras any good?

to be honest, the "remasters" sound like they're just compressed. stick with the original recordings - especially orb's adventures. i don't understand why people can't just turn the volume knob up.

the extra cds, well:

adventures had no new material on it - just get "the aubrey mixes" on ebay and the fantastic new "the bbc sessions" 2cd compilation for far more material. the booklet is pretty poorly written on the adventures 3cd deluxe edition, but i did learn that earth (gaia) started live as a remix of hotel california...

u.f.orb's 2nd cd is very good - almost all the mixes were unreleased or only available on shite quality bootlegs (eg blue room demo at mark angelos)

pomme fritz's 2nd cd is fantastic, if you liked pomme fritz in the first place

orbus terrarum's 2nd cd is also fantastic, but the audio quality is a bit all over the place (although better than my bootlegs)

orblivion's 2nd cd is a bit shit - all the mixes are clearly inferior to the album versions, and are all a bit pointless - eg. the mix of s.a.l.t. is just the album version without the rant

ditto for cydonia, never really liked that album in the first place though...

i think that's it....not sure why they didn't release an expanded version of live 93, with a dvd of glasto and copenhagen, because video footage does exist...
