The first 5 years of your life...

Recommended Posts

Any length, shorter I'm sure is better. I'd say try to go on things that you vaguely remember, but stories/home videos from relatives is okay too...I like this format:

The first five years of my life I...

{and then end with]

When I turned 5 I...

-------------

The first 5 years of my life I...

Lived in a tiny town.

It had a large Amish community, therefore, lots of horse and buggies all over the place

Apparently attended an Amish wake and saw a dead body and Amish ppl chanting around it (mom told me this)

Would consistently ask my parents to drive down one of the many "all brick" roads still in town, loads of fun

Snuck out the front door and off into the snow (around 2 years old), losing my diaper on my way to the next door neighbors house, nearly giving my grandmother a heart attack. Surprisingly, I was okay.

Destryed a floppy disk for an Apple II e (i think), it was my favorite game (a Rube Goldberg type game), i was barred from the computer for a long time.

Apparently was spotted by neighbors hanging from my (2nd story) bedroom window after my dad had locked me in my room.

Thought that my friends house was the house from muppet babies b/c it was so big and had so many doors (her dad was a doctor)

Got my first bee sting

Began my lifelong shoe obsession while crawling around my moms shoes in her closet

Had a "cowboys and Indians" themed birthday party, also a "tricycle/big wheel derby" themed birthday

Often played on my next door neighbors organ w/ Leslie rotary. They sat me on top of it and played bass notes while it spun, and also let me turn the switches, likely beginning my life long synthesizer/knob tiwddling addiction

My brother had "out grown" star wars and was into GI JOE. My mom sold all of his star war toys for 10 cents a piece at a yard sale. A lot of them were still in the box and had barely been played with. He had the Ewok Village, and a giant (to me at the time) R2d2 that you could keep all your toys in.

Went sledding

Remember watching double dare

Loved pound puppies, my little pony, and my pet monster

When I turned 5 I moved. We moved to a huge city 18 hours from where I had been living. Acquiring of new friends began and I was teased a lot for telling stories way too often about where I used to live. Amish people would be mown down if they attempted to "drive" their carriages anywhere inside a 30 mile radius of here.

I lived in a big house, never lived in anything close to a house since

i was left mostly to my own devices.. spent alot of time in other kids houses.. We were all terrified of the fly agaric mushrooms which were abundant in the surrounding woods.

on my 4th birthday i got my own room and an indian style tent.. and a baby seal plush toy

i was an early reader, thanks to a big poster of the ABC's which I studied religiously.

Once I learnt to read, I was frustrated, I felt like Alexander when there was nothing more to conquer.

I read english books because it was more interesting not knowing what the words meant

I wanted to shoot fireworks for new years but dad would only take me on a walk around the neighbourhood to watch other people shoot fireworks.. A terrible disappointment.

i was scared shitless of my older late-teen siblings, but I often asked them to help me set up AMIGA games with infinite lives-cheats

My memories of my childhood from birth to about <12 years are all mixed up so I have no way of telling which ones were before 5 years. Its like someone took the photo album that is my memory and shook all the pictures out onto the floor in a big pile.

THE FIRST 5 YEARS OF MY LIFE:

*SHUNK* *SPLAT!*

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !!! ! ! !! ! ! ! ! !

I'M BRAND NEW, YAYYYYYYYYY

I LIKE CANDY ! ! ! ! !!!!! ! !

just let it all out, man. it's not good to keep harmful memories bottled up inside.

when i was 3 i dropped the key that wound up my dad's metronome down a drain.

when i was 4 i destroyed his reel to reel tape machine when playing with a friend in the spare room in the dark. also i was irrationally scared of a lot of things, like certain toys, my aunty's mother-in-law and the old lady that lived next to my nonno.

when i was 5 i wanted to be a girl. in that same year i started biting/chewing my nails/fingers/sleeves just to 'see what it was all about'. i never stopped.

that's about all i remember. my only other memories are through photos and videos, such as calling the family dog "doydoy" and pushing a lawnmower around the backyard, making lawnmower noises.
