well, first of all there's a pc version, i know coagula is available for pc but it's shit. and it's better than coagula in that you can load audio files into it, export a bmp, and then import again using the original audio file as a reference, thus making it higher quality than if you just used a pure image.

.. and i've never used metasynth so i can't compare them really!

try the 'lossless' mode.
