its pretty cool but i'd love to see more people focusing on the other types of chip-sounds like Fm synthesis ones from the sega genesis or opl3 chip on arcade games.

Fuck yeah, I've been thinking about that since your rather complimentary comment on The Metroid Renaissance EP. Lol that was May and I haven't even tried to do anything yet. Are there any free/cheap vst's that can at least SOMEWHAT emulate those types of FM sounds? I got a bit of an FM bug after the FX1 thread yest.

yes there is Brian E found one for me, and it has the ability to load in extracted 'patches' from sega genesis roms i believe. illl have to find the name of it. unfortunately it doesn't sound perfect like these old school nes/sid ones do.

compared to this new flashy Plogue program it looks like something out of Dos, so it definitely doesn't have a decent GUI going for it

There's quite a good free one that I [try to] use called VOPM ( http://www.geocities.jp/sam_kb/VOPM/ ), and like true FM synthesis back in the day - it's a fuckin' nightmare to programme. But hell that just adds to the authenticity right ?!

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.
