Boards of Canada Miley Cyrus and Boards of Canada

My daughter (aged 10) had me download Miley Cyrus' new song, "Party in the USA", and in getting the album artwork, I noticed it was directly before "Pete Standing Alone" by BoC... It's weird to see electronic music mixed in with the likes of Miley, Crazy Frog, and Parry Gripp.

Thankfully, she's more into the weird electronic stuff than the mainstream pop schlock - in fact, I asked her why she liked the Miley song (which she heard on the radio), and she said she liked the "synths in the background that sounded like BoC" - she's utterly fascinated with synths now, and makes a point to ask me if a particular sound in a song is a synth or a real instrument.

Here's the Miley song - not a bad little pop song, actually, and I do like the synth drone in it:

Parry is an old friend of mine. I knew he was doing silly songs for kids, but I didn't realize he was that famous.

Wow, that's awesome! My daughter loves his stuff. It's pretty silly, but every now and then I catch myself humming "This is the best burrito I've ever eaten", LOL
