Custom Samples in FL

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to put some audio from Fight Club into a track that I'm working on. I've got the samples I want as mp3s, but am unsure of how to get them into a song using FLoops... any suggestions? Do they need to be converted to MIDI?

(Forgive my lack of knowledge, I have only used the program a few times and am mostly just playing around, still getting a feel for it. In other words, I'm a total n00b.)

Any help is much appreciated!

First off I should clarify- MIDI is "Musical instrument digital interface" (I think it's interface)- a MIDI file contains information about a note (C4, A#2, D5- it's velocity, pan, ect) that is then sent to some sort of sound generating device (generally). MIDI is what you're writing when you open up the piano roll.

When you first open up FL, there'll be a place where it has four boxes and says "kick", "snare", "hihat" and "clap"- that's called the sequencer area. I call those channels, though they probably have another name (I think that's easy to confuse with mixer channels). Anyway- right click any of those and go under "replace-->sampler" or "replace--->audio file". Might not be that exact wording, I'm under a different OS atm. It should bring the device right up- click around and you'll see an option to load a sample.

Hope that helped.
