Guest Babar
i've been playing with meltphace under SoundBooth lately, and i finally found the time and patience to chain each spectrogram of the clicks constituting this sound into a short movie. It emerge that each click's spectrogram is the evolution of the previous one. here So what was the technique involved in doing this ? For those who don't see what the crap i am talking about, just check the links included in the vid's description. PS : The "Média Offline" frames are not a glitch, I just didn't bother adding more frames because when the snares kicks in you cannot see the rattling sound anymore in the spectrogram. Guest Babar
no igor's just laughing. seems also you'r not getting how i've made this video. Basically the intro sound looks like : tak tak tak taak taak taaak taaaak taaaaak. i've cut each tak, that has a specific length. Just look at this here each space between the marks is a frame of the movie. I doubt your software can do this, i bet it just do horizontal scrolling. Guest Babar
i'm not sure to understand your changing cycle explanation. You mean that the clicks are just the same sound with a different length ? If so wouldn't each spectrogram be a widen version of the previous one ? modey
what in the flying fuck are you on about? zole are you trying to analyse what the sound is? just sounds like timestretching or delay. Guest Adjective
you may find interesting patterns in the spectrogram, but this doesn't necessarily mean the artist intended to hide images that way. for example, the following are just short segments from a simple loop: Reveal hidden contents Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/50388-meltphace-intro-sound/#findComment-1158465 Share on other sites
Guest Babar
wow wow wow i never said RDJ intended to hide pictures in his music, i was just interesting in discussing what technique he might use. @adjective : could you share the audio matching your spectrograms please ? It is awesome The first thing i thought when i saw those kaleidoscopic shapes was "granular synthesis". i don't know shit about granuar synthesis tho, it's just an intuition I had. Guest Adjective
sorry babar, i misunderstood your posts. my guess is: the sample you're talking about is a sample of noise, maybe with a sharp attack and a long release. This sample then may be triggered over and over in a quick succession. he could be using delay for this or just triggering it manually. I just tried to make something similar in renoise using the method i just typed: http://soundcloud.com/april-13/babar-sound and I was using Izotope RX for those visuals. If Soundbooth has some varied options with its spectrogram you could probably produce similar patterns with any material If available in the spectrogram's settings, try a small FFT size, Gaussion window, and playing with frequency and time overlap. ...and zoom in http://soundcloud.com/april-13/riblum is the sample i used for those patterns earlier Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/50388-meltphace-intro-sound/#findComment-1159007 Share on other sites
