Sonicstage 4.3 is the easiest software in the world to use. I love it. Drag and drop mp3's with ease. If that don't work with Net MD's its pretty shitty Sony are making their most user friendly software unavailable to people with older players.

And make sure you uninsall any earlier versions of Sonicstage on your computer. They conflict with eachother.

Caralaaaaaan......God is in......his holy temple........

minidiscs are wicked.

i'm going to give using my md a try instead of mp3 player. they definatley are classy. a good thing about them is how easy it is to create mixes instead of creating playlists on the mp3 players

Ya sonicstage is like the only bad thing about MD, but 4.3 works like a charm. I have had my NHF800 for a really long time now. I always get the odd looks from people on campus with their fancy ipods and what-not. They ask me why I don't "upgrade" to an ipod and all I say is "Can you record with that motherfucker?" But seriously, if ipods had mic-in I'd be all over that shiz just for the shear quantity of recording you could do.

only problem is it skips sometimes. i think only when it's been shaken for a long time. i'll have to figure that out.

i have an MZ-RH1, and i love it. easily trumps any iPod in terms of sound quality and the clarity of the audio output.

I've been searching around trying to find a place locally that still sells minidiscs. Even London Drugs stopped stocking them. Fuckers. I'm going to end up ordering them online, but I feel like I really shouldn't have to.

Not a hard thing to do.

this is correct. but fact remains, my Hi-MD recorder trumps an iPod.

are the newer md's with a gig capability worth it?

absolutely. i would only really recommend the MZ-RH1 (or MZ-M200 in American markets), as it is the most feature rich of the MD recorders. apparently it seems stocks are drying up, so if you want one you should get one quick

i went through two hi-md minidisc players - both broke after about a year (and not through any fault of mine). one still vaguely works but will now randomly wipe minidiscs at will - i lost 3 hours of music that i had no other copy of that way. and yeah, sonicstage was a pain too.

i those aside i found them to be pretty good. it was especially nice being able to mix and match having a a collection of stuff to listen to and then recording a few minutes of some weird sound you heard and then a demo of something. i really liked that aspect of it - made it much more like cassettes.

now i just use a regular CD walkman to listen to music and a marantz digital recorder for recording - which has had a few problems too but nothing too severe. very nice just beign able to drag and drop files and not have to deal with re-encoding things or propriety formats or anything.

I've had my HI-MD for at least 5 years now and never had a problem. I've even had it fall out of my pocket onto the road while biking. It broke a chip off the corner of the cover and is still going strong! It's nice to be able to load up like 10 albums and still have space to record random stuff on campus or whatever
