Ceephax Acid Crew - Ceeland

Ceeland has come about from two projects that I decided

to release on cassette which I consider the best format for

this release. I think there is still a space for music that is

not heavily produced and mega-hyped in this world, and

Ceeland certainly isn't either of them !

The first part is Ye Olde Acid and is a collection of some

of my earliest tracks recorded mainly in 1997.

They never made it to any proper release at the time but

I still think they retain a certain charm, so I thought they

should be heard...at least by the few people who buy the

cassette.

The tracks are interspersed with a few random clips of sound

and an interview with a friend at college recorded around the

same time which helps to sum up the era !

The second part, The Last Ferry, is on a bleaker tip. I put this

music together as it has a kind of maritime feel reminding me

of desolate coastal beaches, strange radio signals on lost

ships, storms, ghosts, things like that. For me the low sound

quality and lack of definition in some parts (it was recorded

mainly on old reels and dictaphones) is part of it, like some

faint music on a shortwave radio or a distant beacon blinking

out at sea obscured by fog.

Finally this release signifies the beginning of the 743,392,019,

472,544th record label in the world (or thereabouts). Named

Waltzer after the fairground ride where they spin you and the

waltz where you dance.

What better way to start a label than with a release of strange

and badly recorded music on an obsolete format ?

How abstruse.

What's a cassette? That thing that goes in that slot infront of the computer with the big mechanical button sticking out that I never use?

Mine arrived yesterday. Ordered the day i made that post up there.

Side A is marvellous. Full of gems. "Ye Olde Acid, A bit of text to make this appear more like an important product", haha. It's very nice to jam along with:) I feel sorry for people who haven't stuck to their tape decks..

Side B needs more time to get used to, but i'm sure it's going to grow.

I want to buy some nice tape decks, anyone have recommendations? With funbox records and all, I have a feeling I'm going to be buying lots of tapes, and my little RCA portable tape player isn't cutting it anymore.
