Best PC games that don't need a crazy gfx card.

Running a 2.1ghz 4gb machine with a lousy gfx card. Wanting to find some fun games to play that don't require crysis specs etc. Considering puttin deus-ex on here pretty soon :)

Speaking of SNES emulators, I've heard it's possible to play 2-player games with other people on the internet. Would anyone like to play Mario Kart with me? I haven't played it with a human player for ages.

Half Life series - as mentioned by others... you'll probably be able to get away with source games (Counter Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source, Half Life 2, Half Life Episodes) on lower settings.

Soldier of Fortune - preferably the first, they slowly descend into shit after that.

There's a puzzle game coming out on the Amiga called "Perspex" in which you play a misdiagnosed patient struggling to get out of the horrible way you get locked in a battle with a overindulgent doctor called Grez. This is the kind of bloke that you don't want to get into a tussle with. He's big, he's mean, and he doesn't give a flying fuck if you've got kids and family and that. He's a right cunt basically. Anyway, you have to go in the bogs with him, seedy bogs like, and he just unzips, but you have to fumble around after three pints and undo your belt and that cos you're wearing a strange pair of bollock stranglers that your mate got you for Christmas but you've run out of ordinary boxers.

You know him pretty well because you went out with an acquaintance that he can remember so it's not immediately awkward, but then, all of a sudden, you realise that when he's trying to talk about football, he's really taking sneaky glances at your cunt.

Half Life 2 is surprisingly easy on system resources - My laptop is about 5 years old now but happily ran Episode 2 (albeit at 800x600).

Yeah it still holds up quite well doesn't it - the last few months I worked through Ultimate Doom,Doom2 and Quake and was quite surprised about how good the atmosphere is despite their age. I quite like the whole dark neo-gothic (possibly, I don't really know the names of styles) feel of Quake's levels, they don't really seem to make FPSs in that style nowadays.
