Guest joshier
I'm happily creating when all of a sudden a vst effect goes haywire and I'm left fucking deafened, despite having georges limiter on my master. Is there any way to stop this from happening? I do really need my ears intact. Chucking my 'phones down as a nervous instinctual reaction is not fun. Cheers. awepittance
try using a different limiter, or you may need to put your limiting settings to something more extreme. a compressor would be more effective for totally getting rid of the dynamic range so that no matter what you do with the vst effect or synth it would be the same volume Edited November 16, 2009 by Awepittance Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide awepittance's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/50725-effects-that-try-to-shock-and-deafen-you/#findComment-1166643 Share on other sites
Guest joshier
it's fucking evil, I'm surprised ableton doesn't have something built into it - just so it doesn't deafen it's loyal buyers so they have no hearing. I'll try what you guys said. Thanks. Guest Lube Saibot
Dude just don't use that VST anymore. BBE sonic maximizer did this horrible fucking noise when i loaded projects that used it, then i just said fuck it and got a different exciter. There can't be just one option for what effect you need. You're never gonna tame that stuff save fiddling with the actual code of the vst. My guess is that your problem is similar to mine and it's just audible software glitching. Just say no.
