The DAW software, as you mentioned, is currently the only way for the input or output channels to be adjusted/controlled.

i'm using the SPDIF outputs (3/4, not 1/2), so essentially what they've just told me is that in order to listen to say, iTunes, Youtube, VLC (ie. anything that isn't a dedicated audio program with it's own port routing options) out of my speakers, i'll have to install a virtual audio port, set this as default output, then have logic pro project (with the virtual audio port routed to the right output port) open 24/7.

i'm aware of 'Audio Switcher', which allows you to change soundcards from the menubar, but i was hoping there is something more comprehensive, that maybe acts like a miniature DAW and allows you to route ports (and sits nicely on the menubar)?

any help super appreciated
