JR Hexatone Pro / iphone music app thread

Recommended Posts

I just downloaded this new music app for my iphone and it's amazing i'm having so much fun with it. you can load up your own samples and even upload the output directly to soundcloud through the app. a lot of music iphone apps are just toys or random 'fun' things. but this is an actual tool. i'm going to use this to sketch out ideas, or come up with new beats when i'm on the subway or somewhere to mix into my projects. also, it actually has an IDM button which is in the very center of the hexagon grid

has anyone else used this? it's so much fun just messing around with it, if i get something really good i'll post it up. i haven't spent as much time with it yet as i want to. i'm hoping to spend a lot of time with it this weekend

what other iphone apps do people use? so far i've been using the cubase ic app which is just touch based iphone transport control, the novation automap app which is extremely useful and allows me to control additional parameters although i don't like how it only has two fader bars per page, there should be like at least 5. i also have touchOSC but haven't really messed around with that yet.

this crazy DJ app was just released as well:

haven't tried that one out yet but here's the other useful stuff:

I actually just got an iphone yesterday as I was due an upgrade on my contract. Have Cubase IC, and was thinking about automap. The only thing is, I already have a nocturn, so if I want to use both I have to shell out a further £20 for automap pro which supports multiple devices.

Jasuto looks interesting.

that's true. the cost might not be worth it for some people, but i find the app to be pretty useful. haven't checked out Jasuto yet, what's that all about?

Not the best example, but will give you and idea. Apparently quite a steep learning curve. Modular synth and sampler seemingly along the same lines as retractable. There's also a vst version which you can import patches into, though it's still at beta stage (as far as I'm aware).

that's cool i'll definitely look into that. also the thing about automap pro costing 30 dollars to use more than one device, is that yeah it is kind of a jerk move by novation, but they are continually updating and improving the software so its worth it. i also plan to get a launchpad eventually, so nocturn + iphone + launchpad is a good combination. that and i might pick up a remote sl zero off craiglists so in the end its a good deal for me
