kcinsu
Does anyone have one of these interfaces? How much of a difference can you hear in MIDI clock timing? I've been using my nord G2 in a more live context lately, but it feels sloppy alongside tightly sequenced audio... How much will this help? Enough that it'd be worth getting? Danke! acidphakist
My understanding is that the TurboMidi is only used while uploading patches/samples via MIDI. kcinsu
Quote For example, say Elektron, at 10x speed, the MIDI clock can be 10x tighter and 10x more note data can be passed though at one particular time. All MIDI timing becomes more accurate. This is especially valid for Mac OSX users. Increasing the bandwidth also makes sample transfers (or OS upgrades) a much more delightful experience. The TM-1 is fully MIDI compatible, so it works together with any MIDI gear out there. awepittance
you shouldn't be noticing any delay or sloppiness with tracking a G2 with audio on your computer, unless you've heard of this as a common phenomenon i would guess something needed to be changed in your Ableton or Logic settings. kcinsu
I've never found my nords to be super tight in even their internal timing.... even full self contained sequences from the G2, I end up time correcting. kcinsu
I'm asking over at electromusic... see if anyone has insight to the G2s timing. ascdi
I've always wondered about this. It's a weird claim to make because so much is out of the hands of the interface manufacturer in this situation. Even assuming that they have shit-hot OS X and Windows (?) driver developers on staff at Elektron (which, why would they?), they're still at the mercy of the OS and the DAW and all that shit. Let us know if you find anything out. I have MOTU gear and my MIDI timing is so bad I've basically given up DAW sequencing of hardware, or at least the expectation of it being "on grid" if I do so.
