i'm wondering if anyone has told you that the handwritten scrawl of the word "Legit" on a CD-R does not constitute authentication by any means, regardless of how many times the word has been underlined

This reminds me of when I was a kid, I played Ecco the Dolphin on the Master System and loved it. I really wanted Ecco 2 but didn't have the money because I was only a kid. So I devised this scheme where I write "Ecco 2" on a label and stick it to the cartridge, that should make the game magically change! So I did it and was well disappointed when it didn't work. Naive doesn't quite cover that.

Note - I was never stupid as a young'un. Clearly just incredibly optimistic to the point that logic just breaks down completely.

like when i desperately wanted a Macintosh, but only had a P166 MMX PC, so i used various programs to make my Windows 98 SE look like Mac OS 7.5

Man, you're the first person I've heard that's also done that.... I remember back in the day I had a tape of Kickstart for the C64 and was desperate to play the sequel so on the label-less side in pencil I scribbled in Kickstart II. Didn't work obviously.

What kills me is you played it on the SMS, rather than the Genesis/Mega Drive, where it first came out...

First of all, my family was poor and we only had a Master System. Second of all, I think writing on a cartridge and expecting the game to change is more of a than what system I played it on!

Well, now that one of us have come forward I find it fitting to reveal to you forum goers a big secret.

One warm June evening I was staring at a curiously red looking moon, I then looked down at my watch and saw it was 8:36pm! Right at that moment my phone rang, but strangely enough it wasn't my ring tone, it was a MIDI version of Dayvan Cowboy! The looked at the caller ID and was astonished to see that the phone number was 100-606! I answered the phone and I was greeted with a robotic voice saying that I am one of the chosen protectors of BoCs back catalog. Right then I saw a ray of light in the sky, I was hit in the face with the CD you see above. Attached with it was a note saying there are 70 chosen ones in the world, who's only task in life is to protect the sacred music! FOR IF IT REACHES YOUR EARS YOU'LL EXPLODE!

that night was totally legit

OH YEAH, then I saw a new clear dawn the next morning!
