"lo fi", "noise punk", "nu gaze"

when will this shit end? vivian girls, wavves, no age, etc...it's like every single band has to sound like they recorded an album under water on a broken fender jaguar. we get it. loveless was a great album. move on. and now i'm reading about some new genre called "glo fi". wtf. please stop hopping on bandwagons.

havent heard of any of these bands or this genre, but if theyre anything close to what you describe, im going to keep it that way.

it's not even a genre, it's a trend. hide your lack of ambition and talent in bad production and two chord fuzz pop. i hate lo fi for the sake of being lo fi, which is what basically every indie band seems to do now.

it's not about being "lo-fi for the sake of being lo-fi" (at least not in the case of 'nu-gaze'), though the underwater comment was pretty close. it's just new psychedelic music really. i'm sure there are more music genres out there that are more irritating to people who don't like them. i dunno, i'm gonna defend it to death because i myself write shoegazey stuff. and for me it's about making music with nice melodies but drenching everything in noise, reverb and tape delay.
