Guest chax
for the longest time i've used multiple hard drives to back up my music, patches, cubase files, vsts, etc. BUT RECENTLY i've realized that this isn't enough...what if my apartment burns down? or some other kind of disaster were to happen (like some psycho ex/friend steals all of my equipment) recentl;y i've discovered online backups, where things are stored (encrypted) on a server thousands of miles away, safe and secure. i havent done that much research yet, but have looked at a few sites like mozy idrive carbonite jungle disk dropbox crashplan where the hell do i begin? is it actually worth it compared to how much it costs? does anyone else use any of these services? also i've been lucky where i have never "lost everything". i've heard stories from around, disaster scenarios, where people lose 3 years, 5 years of work. that can never happen to me. i won't let anything like that ever happen Edited November 28, 2009 by chax Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/51076-backups/ Share on other sites

acidphakist
my GOD. what are you backing up? if you are that concerned about an apartment fire, get a fireproof safe and put your terabyte drive inside it. chim
My external drive with all my files and music since 2 years, unbacked, died a week ago. but weed eases the pain, also my music probably isn't that good, it's not like i had the master tapes of Druqks on it. but i did have a bunch of amazing tracks for an upcoming album, which is the biggest shame. I grew tired of the old music anyway. Braintree
I've got a few hard drives. The likelihood of my place burning down isn't good, so I think I'm okay with external hard drives for now.
