the latest thing was a 12" on narita, very good stuff. it depresses me that he hasn't released music for a while ... you can find quite a few lives sets on slsk etc

someone told me a story once about bumping into Brothomstates at a bar, they ended up getting in a heated argument that led to Brothomstates breaking a bottle on the bar to turn into a weapon. could be totally false, but i enjoyed the tale.

Does ANYONE know if the Dune/Orange/Demoscene material has been released anywhere? I occasionally come across tracks accompanied by old CG demos and they are always amazing!

Brothomstates was like Aphex Twin, Autechre and Plaid all rolled into one. but with more youthfull energy and ferver, and funk, and just all-round 'kin coolness.

Yep, his stuff still oozes style in a way very few can touch. That goes for many of his modules too - he did more with 50k of samples and sequences than probably anyone here can do with a DAW full of VSTs or a room full of hardware.

i discovered him backwards. first heard the claro lp and quito ep before discovering his werk for the demo scene as mr dunes. i've actually wondered myself what happened to him (in respect to going completely quiet) but i also find that the quality in warp's output has been progressively getting a lot worse (their film division however is looking more plush)

new B'states album and EP on Warp, followed by new Autechre, then new Aphex Twin and BoC... and Plaids' new EP, would totally rekindle the IDMz.

edit: not necessarily in that order.

do it, Warp! you gits. give B'states a load of money to make anew album. stop releasing shit band's music.
