  • 1 year later...

lol i knew i made the same thread last year but fuck it i'll make a new mulled wine thread every year til i die.

this year's recipe is a quicker, fuss-free, mess-free alternative. basically i couldn' be arsed messing around with a spice-bag.

this year i had my first mug on the 1st of december while christmas shopping. christmas shopping is improved ten-fold by taking a break for mulled wine.

actually this is a more likely recipe for people to try.

who the hell has pear liqueur at home? (except me - cos gf's aunt gives us a random liqueur every christmas)

mods please combine these mulled wine threads if you see fit. shit it's only me giving recipes anyway. close/nonsense/trash/kill me.

I like the Jamie Oliver approach, which is to make a syrup of sugar, a little wine and all your spices first. This really infuses the flavour of the spices and then you just add the rest of your wine (and some star anise) and it tastes amazing. I don't sent to put anything extra in it.

My recipe:

Sugar

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Clementine peel

Lime peel

Lemon peel

Bay Leaves

Cloves

Lime and Lemon juice and Clementine segments

Cheap red wine

Sugar

Once mixed up, chuck in some star anise and warm up (but don't boil!)

bingo!
