Vincent Gallo's Johnny 316

Recommended Posts

i get kind of irritated when there seems to be no correlation or understanding of the difference between fake documentary or normal movie. this seems to fall into the category of 'i will lazily use fake interviews to make it seem like a documentary but also film the rest like a straight forward fictional drama with no direct correlation between the two, the camera is 'god' bro all seeing eye'

get ready to be more and more irritated then, the lines are just

going to continue to lighten between the real and the surreal.

i enjoyed the 'not knowing' aspect of it. i was ready to hate it because i feared

it might just turn into a big joke ...this movie went all the way

around and then back again though and i was pleased

with the overall message

i loved it, but i am a BIG Vincent Gallo fan and i make

compromises on how i feel about some of his smuttier

stuff and how he kind of an ass because i like to watch him so dam

much, there's just something captivating about him. his music's to.

i don't find myself doing that often, but Vincent has some sort of

supersonic power over me.

yeah, i see this a lot now, like in the office and reno 911. even district 9 did this, which was a bit disappointing cause i thought it was going to be like a straight up documentary style movie.

all that aside, this film looks very interesting.

you get lost in his eyes, dont you?

yes

i'm in love with beautiful babies. sun warmed, honey sweet girls with moistened breastisis

still.... i have to admit that those eye's ....those eye's.

there is just something that pulls me in, i can't help it.

i dont think the office (uk) did it. that was pretty much a straightforward pseudo documentary

the american version does sometimes. like, when they're in a car and they get different angles and multiple shots. it's very fake and it's obvious that they dropped the documentary aspect somewhere along the line.

i thought a Mighty Wind was a slightly better film , but both of them are damn entertaining. Have you seen 'for your consideration' ? i did not like it when i first saw it because it diverges from the mockumentary style (but not enough it seemed basically exactly like the previous films, except no direct camera interviews) but now ive grown to like it a lot.

i was warned that "for your consideration" was not so hot, but I watched it out of loyalty and curiosity and was not disappointed. It was worth it to see Cat O'Hara wasted.

EDIT: For some reason I had a crush on her as a kid. Maybe because of Beetlejuice I don't remember.

i had a crush on her as a kid too! but it was because my mom used to make me watch old SCTV re-runs when they used to play them on Nick at night

the only christopher guest related film ive seen is spinal tap. think i might start with a mighty wind. some of the clips ive seen have been pretty funny. plus its always fun to make fun of folk musicians

only a recommendation but i would go chronilogically, you're already on track watching Tap first, but then go watch in this order

Waiting for Guffman

Best in Show

A Mighty Wind

For your consideration.

Guffman is the most satisfying if you want to see Guest himself really shine, the other movies he has featured roles in but they are more background characters than a main one. He really put his all into Guffman, and i feel like he's taken kind of a backseat in the last 3 films.
