I thought this whole argument was ironic a few years back. That maybe the nightsayers were all taking the piss out of a lone simpleton that had idiotically suggested "at night" at some distant point in the past... and the continued use of "night" was just a witty reference to that simpleton, rather like the kid who slept with the hedgehog for the rush, the adaptation etc.

When i realised that people do actually believe it, when suggesting that it is anything other than "in the heat"... i think that's when i lost the last scrap of my faith in humanity.

lol, my faith was lost before in coming in contact with afx fanboys, but i cant even remember the reasons now. It could have been their unshakable belief that afx twin invented house and techno in 1985 or that he really did have his best songs stored away in a vault for no one to hear among hundreds.

I can hear night as in "nah-eat", and "eat" if I listen for it, but it sounds most like "heat"

I liked the discussions where people would get all CSI and start looking into what kinds of beetles are in Cornwall where Richard lived, to see if they were nocturnal or if they only came out in the Summer... lol
