Guest covenant
Greetings, I was looking for some sort of analog recording gear, to make some experiments with tape loops, and got this one very cheap. It will arrive next week. http://images03.olx.pt/ui/2/83/52/38128152_1.jpg I have no info on the equipment. But it looks awesome. But then I got another deal. A friend of mine want to sell (for almost nothing) a Stereo 8 or 8 Track recorder. I know nothing about these recorders. They use a Cart with tape inside, but my question is, it it possible to record in 8 tracks? Like a multitrack recorder? It's this model: http://saojoaodamadeira.olx.pt/deck-de-cassetes-antigo-leitor-e-gravador-iid-51178318 I can get this one for 10Eur, but I'll have to dig ebay for blank carts Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/51769-cassette-recorder/ Share on other sites

YEK
i saw something cool the other day. it's pretty much a micro cassette recorder but it's digital. same sound quality and mic but smaller and more space (it records to memory card) oh and it was 20-30 dollars Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/51769-cassette-recorder/#findComment-1194373 Share on other sites

My Results... I've got one of those Coomber recorders which I modded - it now has a speed control (slow down only though... I could probably hack it to run faster but I can't be arsed) and an erase head switch so you can record over audio that already exists (don't expect "multitracking", it just wrecks whatever's underneath it = cool effect) Edited December 22, 2009 by futureimage Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide futureimage's signature Hide all signatures New Future Image album, Definite Complex, out now!FUTURE IMAGE RECORDS Future Image Definite ComplexIntelligent Dasein Sound Experiments #1papertiger harmonizing the seamsP/R/P/E The Speed of RevolutionWilliam S. Guest covenant
Thank you, Nice work on your Coomber. I really like your tape loops. My idea is to have several loop tapes, and several walkman / tape players looping some drones and ambient sfx. Regarding reel, I'm am looking on a deal for a Grundig TK 120 Deluxe: That is for sale near my house for 40Eur. Any good? awepittance
in my experience it is perfectly possible to make a tape loop using a traditional cassette tape. You just have to be very meticulous opening it up and closing it again, but yeah i've done it on multiple occasions. It's just a lot harder to do it vs a reel to reel. That's what I like about them though. They're so bad, unpredictable, generally a bit wonky. The fact that you can leave them running and see how the player struggles through playing a loop that isn't that well done for 10 minutes is brilliant.
