Guest iamabe
i want to get rid of iTunes and find a nice player for mac that lets me: - play FLAC and WAV and shit - manage music and libraries manually, like with folders for artists and folders for albums, etc - manually add stuff to my ipod (i know other apps like Songbird can do it so i think it's possible without itunes) - have some coolio spectrograph visualization shit as a bonus what are some good music players? Im looking at songbird but its kinda cheesy and commercial and looks basically just like itunes. Guest iamabe
itunes library management gets to be a hassle because i keep some music on my external, and I can't tell what's missing when I don't have my external until I actually try to play it in itunes and get a missing music warning. Id like a player like foobar that doesn't compile a library, but instead just lets you "manually" browse your music in folders, so you can see what you actually have with you on your hard drive, instead of in a library file that doesnt make apparent what music you have on what drives. dig? Guest Smuckers
I've settled with Songbird since switching to a Macbook and losing Foobar. It's like the Firefox of media players in that you can download tons of mainly shit, but useful add-ons. Screen shot spoilered for size. chenGOD
Songbird is actually based on the same code as Firefox. What this means is that every time you open firefox and songbird you're opening up two instances of the gecko codebase. I tried songbird and found it to be bloated (much like iTunes is on windows) and junky. As far as I'm concerned, on the Mac, iTunes is just about perfect. My issues with itunes is it lack of support for other formats, ogg, flac, wmv, avi etc... Video aside, I was using mediamonkey for audio but it is PC only.
