Vector Lovers

A couple of years ago I downloaded a Soma Records sampler - Soma Coma - from Bleep ... its really good by the way, and only £5 for 15 tracks.

And thats how I came to hear Vector Lovers - he had two awesome tracks on that comp.

If you read his biography, he ticks a lot of the IDM artist boxes:

- background tinkering with the ZX Spectrum in the 80s - check.

- developing and selling own VST instruments - check

- has a track called Girl + Robot - check

- now living in Berlin - check

His first album, Vector Lovers, from back in 2004 is awesome

You can hear it/download it from Bleep, here

The standout tracks, for me are:

- Metrolux Forever

- Toyko Glitterati

- Girl + Robot

- Yamanote Sundown

Here's Metrolux Forever:

and here's Tokyo Glitterati

and here's Yamanote Sundown:

He has two or three more recent albums too - I have 'Afterglow' and it is also very high quality. Has anyone checked out the other ones?

YES! I'm totally in love with Vector Lovers, and have listened to him for years (although I don't love the name/anime concept, but whatever). This is one of my favourite songs by him:

just love that break at 1:53 sooooo much, so many good memories with this song

I am definitely not a fan of his latest stuff though. In fact he seems to be regressing...going in a direction more of minimal techno. Like, really minimal/dance/club music. Like this:

I really do hope he goes back to his original early style, although I doubt it seeing how club music is what pays the bills...

There's a few free tracks for download on his website, and I see that he is also on Twitter, actually some of his tweets are quite good.

I'm not sure there's a consistent album, but he's done a handful of really great tracks. Of his (fairly) recent stuff I like this.

first caught Vector Lovers in the Slam Tent at 'T in the Park' a few years back.

Cool stuff with impeccable production and if anyone can tell me what he's done to the sound on the track Endless Summer to make it sound so crisp I'd be very appreciative.

That Metrolux Forever track is too good, I remember I replayed it like 7 times when I first heard it from this thread many many months back. I had to post it, good job bumping this thread. I need to listen to more of this dudes stuff.

(by post it I mean I had to post that tube on facebook so that a few people would listen to it)((because barely anyone gives a shit about posted music on facebook.. o well))
