Recommend me some amazing music.

Okay. With the exception of Bowie and most of Muse these all have some pretty obvious electronics.

Björk (Post -to- Medulla)

Brain Eno

David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust)

Muse (Origin of Symmetry/Absolution)

Nine Inch Nails

Pink Floyd (NOT Ummagumma)

Radiohead (OK Computer)

Tangerine Dream (The Virgin Years)

Richard Devine

I won't even try to recommend breakcore, people don't seem to like it around these parts.

If you want something similar to Autechre, you should check out Frank and Bill. I have the SMAK release and Viva FAB, and both are awesome! This is the only music I've heard which really sounds like quality Autechre.

He recommends it to everyone for anything, I swear.

Also, how the fuck did I miss Phoenecia?

richard devine, for sure.

he often gets criticised for being too close to autechre's sound but I think beyond the heavy use of dsp and max/msp the comparisons fall flat.

Yeah. Richard Devine's stuff is just really thick and processed, but not like Autechre's.

Devine is much much more cinematic stuff than Ae. Not that it makes it better though... That being said the vast majority of his work is fairly solid stuff. His albums are like a sci-fi horror film soundtrack.

Those, and sampling Gescom.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed that Devine directly samples Gescom and AE from time to time, Nuane and some stuff from Minidisc come to mind. Pretty well hidden usually unless you're one of us. :sorcerer:

I think Megamix is literally a crunching up of other Gescom tunes, there's a lot in there.

And I've heard AE and Gescom in Cautella, I remember my ears perked up as soon as I recognised a sample. Need to listen again to pick it out, I'm sure I mentioned it in an AE thread at some point.

For a group few know of who do some exceptional minimal type IDM, I recommend the Italians 'Retina.it'. I believe you can find a free podcast from Hefty Records of their rarities on itunes, which I also happen to think has a few of their best tracks on it.

Monolake - similar recommendation.

Frankly, I also recommend me, Aeriae:

Four of the tracks in the player (the non-remixes) are likely to appeal to Autechre fans.

In sampling, I'm only interested in making more complex stuff out of simpler stuff. I mean to me, sampling Autechre or Aphex or most any IDM (as it's all up the anal / complex end already) is pointless and annoying. I forget the person, but in some other recommendation thread that was on here I remember someone mentioning some free online music which was 99% rearranged samples of autechre tracks... Yech!

Yeah, I remember that. One of the tunes started with Uviol, but slightly faster. It was dreadful.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say xanopticon. it's not much of a limb, but I went there.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
