itunes alternative?

I have an ipod that I pretty much only use for when i go to the gym, just load up the same hour of dance music or whatever to keep me goin...i never use itunes except for when you plug in the damn pod and it pops up and says a bunch of shit...

i cant stand the program because it seems like its a fucking massive memory hog....so i ask you WATMM, is there an alternative itunes-app that still allows an interface with the ipod thats far easier to work with?
