Terpentintollwut
Hey everyone, I've tried to amplify some Speech in the audio track of a video I'm editing. The record quality isn't that great and there is pretty insane background noise, but I'm not trying to isolate the Speech completely, just amplify it a bit to make it more understandable (Don't bother trying to understand it yourself, unless you speak German) There's two voices, male and female, which probably makes it more complicated. These are clips from the original recording: Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Speech-Test 1 Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Speech-Test 2 I'm not very experienced working with an EQ, I got a couple of free programs that allow for noise substraction, but I don't think that's applicable for this purpose. Again, I'm not trying to get rid of the background sound, just make the speech a bit clearer/louder. Terpentintollwut
That is working quite well actually - Is there a way to amplify the low frequencies within the isolated speech now without bringing the background noise back too much, to make the voices sound "heavier"? If not, no big deal, the result is good already. Thanks! Guest analogue wings
you can try a bump at 250-500 but yeah there will be a trade off between speech power and noise down there Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52356-amplifying-speech/#findComment-1209399 Share on other sites
Terpentintollwut
I'll try and play around with the values a bit. Luckily the cameras in the other locations had good mics and the background sound wasn't as loud there. Guest spraaaa
sometimes it really helps to take a multiband eq, one with like 16 or 32 frequencies or whatever, and just try raising and lowering each one. often there's a pitched component to the noise that you can center in on and reduce. especially that since it's more bells than wind or something.
