After a few weeks toying with the demo, (and loving it) I pulled the trigger and bought it. I was going to get waldorf largo, but that can wait as this bundle give's me quite a few more options. I ordered it direct from Fxpansion. Why? Direct download. So awesome. I love that companies are catching on and doing this (though some have been doing it for years upon years). It's a joy to be able to have your payment go through, and pretty much instantly be downloading. Sadly I am at work and can't play with it till lunch time. Very excited, will post some thoughts and sound clips.

The sound of these synths is fantastic!

heavyish, but not killer, not really that bad. I recommend at least a dual core (which i have).

It can be extremely heavy on some of the fusor patches.

doesn't surprise me @ spoiler. it's been a while since I've indulged in that "type of download" but if I recall air was pretty quality. Anyways, their copy protection was just a challenge/response type thank goodness b/c i hate the whole ilok/dongle setup (which i sadly own stuff that uses it). But yeah, it's much better for the actual customers but makes it easier to crack i suppose. I have no idea how that works. I enjoy having legal stuff cuz if it doesn't work or keeps crashing i can make a phone call or email and fix the problem and have everything working smoothly.

yeah yeah yeah you say that in every post lately. almost as if you're convincing yourself that you are making the right decision. Meanwhile, Amber is nice so far. It's the only one I've opened yet.

I'm not trying to brag or convince myself of anything. Sorry if it comes off that way. It's just that a lot of these companies that make awesome instruments depend heavily on people paying for them. I'm by no means innocent from past "indiscretions". :cisfor:

certain products i like to pay for because frequent free updates are awesome. it seems almost every day i get on the internet and am downloading a new version of something with cool new exciting features. that's one benefit to buying stuff that you can't argue. as far as the morality and everything...i don't get too caught up on that with the big guys, but with little 3rd party developers i like to throw them some cash.

I figured you would know I was fucking with you and you would have replied accordingly.

wait there is a fucking DEMO! what the fuck when it first came out i swore it off because there was NO DEMO, but so much praise.... Now i want to try it

The thing about these synths is that the sound quality is top notch. Very little discrepancies. So they are perfect for your crystal clear digital cut through the mix sound. The analog parameter is nice, but i would've like a control for the amount of noise that gets introduced at higher settings.

I bought this mainly for amber, and I am really impressed/pleased with amber. As far as strobe and Cypher go I'm not necessarily disappointed, but they aren't that special compared to other va/fm synths. I have NI FM8 and nothing has beaten the layout/sound and flexibility of that thing. So even though the FM algorithms are nice and it sounds good, it's not something I see myself using too often. Same for Strobe. Just another VA. Good sound but nothing special about it, and I have much more flexible and better laid out VA's.

Fusor is the program that lets you use all three synths as a multi-timbral "3 synths in one" setup. As far as Fusor goes, I am not really that interested in using it. I've got a dual core 2 ghz and it completely destroys my cpu b/c you're running 3 cpu hungry synths. I'm sure it's nice on better systems, but I honestly see myself only using amber in the future.

6.5/10 for the whole package. Would've rather bought amber separate. Kind of regretting not going ahead and getting Waldorf largo, but I'll get it soon enough. PS - Novamusik has Largo on sale for 250 Dollars and it comes with a novation nocturn controller.
